Sunday, August 21, 2011, was a significant day for Orangewood Church of the Nazarene in Phoenix, AZ. Christopher Yuan, joined by his parents, Leon and Angela Yuan, shared their testimony of God’s transforming grace and presented biblical teaching on sexuality. With over 600 in attendance for the morning services and afternoon sessions, the Holy Sexuality Conference was a blessed time for the community.
The morning worship services began with the Yuan family recounting their journey of redemption. Their heartfelt testimony, filled with raw honesty and God’s undeniable faithfulness, resonated with listeners of all ages. Many were moved by the reminder that no one is beyond the reach of God’s grace.
The afternoon Holy Sexuality Conference featured two sessions that tackled pressing questions surrounding faith and sexuality. In A Christian Response to Homosexuality, Dr. Yuan equipped the audience with practical, Christ-centered approaches to engaging culture without compromising biblical truth. His second session, Homosexuality: Texts & Hermeneutics, provided an in-depth look at key scriptural passages, offering clarity and confidence for believers seeking to understand and apply God’s Word.
The impact was undeniable. One attendee shared, “Bless you, Christopher! I see you as a David, empowered by God, out there fighting a Goliath . . . well done!” This sentiment captured the courage and conviction felt throughout the event, as many were inspired to stand firm in their faith while extending love and truth to those around them.
This conference followed a successful two-day Holy Sexuality Conference at Greater Phoenix Chinese Christian Church just days earlier, on August 19-20, where Dr. Yuan spoke to over 500 attendees. Across the weekend, the Holy Sexuality Conference brought hope, healing, and a deeper understanding of God’s design for identity and relationships.
Through these two conferences, God’s presence was evident, breaking down barriers and stirring hearts to respond to His call. The message shared at Orangewood Church was a timely reminder that God’s truth, delivered with grace, has the power to transform lives and bring glory to His name.
