This past weekend on August 15-16, 2015, Eastbrook Church in Milwaukee, WI hosted Holy Sexuality™, Dr. Christopher Yuan’s conference on biblical sexuality. Dr. Yuan was with his parents, Dr. Leon and Angela Yuan. During the two Sunday morning worship services, Dr. Yuan preached and his parents spoke to around 4,800 congregants and shared their family testimony. Then in the evening, the conference continued with Christopher’s teaching in a seminar on A Christian Response to Homosexuality.
Holy Sexuality™ at Eastbrook was a powerful conference of gospel-centered truths. In the weeks prior, senior pastor Matt Erikson dove into similar topics on marriage and singleness. Pastor Matt said of the conference, “This was a powerful reflection on the redeeming power of God in our lives through the Yuan’s story. If you missed it, I highly recommend you take a look or listen to it.”
Upon returning home, the Yuans received encouraging emails. One participant of Holy Sexuality wrote, “Thank you so much for sharing at Eastbrook on Sunday evening! I came along with friends, family, and pastors whom I invited. I read your book several years ago. I read it in one day. It is one of the most moving, powerful redemption stories I have ever read and your mother’s part about praying for you gives me hope as a mom of prodigals.”
Another individual was so moved and wrote, “Thank you so much for your preaching and teaching at Eastbrook Church in Milwaukee this weekend. I enjoyed you on Saturday night and was glad I came back for your excellent talk tonight. Thank you for articulating so many positive courses of action for all of us Christians as we befriend sexually confused individuals in our lives. It was very encouraging.”
Eastbrook Church’s like-mindedness in this world filled with confusion, was a warm home this weekend for Dr. Yuan’s gospel-centered message on sexuality. The Yuans were blessed to speak openly with so many parents of prodigals and those struggling to find grace and truth. They left blessed and content with what the Lord was doing amidst the congregation of Eastbrook.
